Discipline

There will be absolutely no corporal punishment inflicted on any child.  Discipline will not be frightening or humiliating or associated with food, rest or toileting.  The child will be carefully supervised and treated as an individual.  If a need arises for your child to cool down after an incident, my assistant or I will redirect the child to another activity and make sure that the child realizes why they are being redirected.  We will encourage the children to try and resolve any conflict.  If there is further need for discipline, the child will be temporarily separated from the group.  The entire time that the child is away from the group, there will be a discussion with the child about why it is necessary for him/her to be away from the other children.  This seems to work well without humiliating the child and gives them a chance to collect themselves before rejoining the group.
