Health
Policy
A sick child should not
be in school. A child would be considered sick if suffering from any of the following:
If a child develops
symptoms of illness while in care, the parent will be contacted. Depending on the situation, the parent
may just need to be made aware of the situation or might be asked to pick up the child. In any case, the
ill child will be kept comfortable and segregated, if necessary, from the other children.
If the child requires emergency medical care, the parent will be contacted.
If the parent cannot be reached, the following procedure will be followed:
The child's doctor will be called and his/her instructions will be followed.
If the doctor is not available,
the child will be taken to the nearest emergency facility, which is Putnam Hospital Center. I will accompany
the child to the hospital and my substitute / assistant will supervise the other children in school. Under
no circumstances will a child be left alone.
My assistant will continue to try to contact the parent.
